A long time

Hi everyone!

I've been away from couponing and blogging for a little bit. We moved to Arizona in August of 2010 and I have found it really hard to do my couponing here. Our Walmart is very hostile towards couponers and there is nowhere that does double coupons. So I have slacked off.

But!!!! I am starting up again. I have reorganized my binder and my head. :-)

I plan on doing a nice couponing shopping trip this weekend, an I will blog about it when I get back.

Thanks so much for reading my blog.

Double Coupon Tuesday

So, I haven't felt well the past couple of days, but I really wanted to take advantage of double coupon Tuesday at WalMart this week, so I went over after work, and I think I did pretty well.

The cashier who checked me out has helped me before, and I don't know if their double coupon policy has changed, or if she was just doing it wrong, but I actually saved more money than I think I was supposed to.  Instead of doubling my coupons, she made them all worth a dollar.  So, my $0.30 off mustard coupons became $1.00 off mustard, and I got a couple of bottles for $0.08.  Sweet deal, right?  I'm always excited to save money, but, next week, I may specify when I go through the line what the actual doubling policy is, because if the cashier does it wrong, I don't want them to get in trouble.

I also wanted to tell you, if you have any of the Bic Soleil coupons left, from 6-7 weeks ago, I think, they expire this weekend.  They are for $3.00 off any Bic Soleil razor.  The Soleil's are $4.47 every day price at WalMart, so, with the coupon you can get them for $1.47.  For razors, I'd say that's a stock up price, so, if you have them, make sure you use them this week, or you lose them.  Also, some of the Soleil's only have 3 razors in the pack and some have 4, so, be conscious of this when purchasing.

Happy couponing.

The Binder

OK, so, as you all know, there are many different ways to organize your coupons.  Some people do the accordian files.  I tried this for about a week, and discovered I had way too many coupons to make this a viable option for me.  I started using a binder, and that has worked much better for me.  My first binder was only a one inch binder, and I just had the dividers, and didn't have anything between them, and it also didn't work very well.  The next thing I used was a 4 inch D-ring binder.  I had all my dividers in it still, but, in between them I put baseball cars holders for my separated coupons, and that has worked great.  Although, last week I dropped my binder, and part of the spine cracked, so I had to duck tape it.  It still worked, but, it looked kind of trashy.

Today I was at DI with my mom, and I found myself a new binder, it was brand new with the tags still attached, and it's perfect.  Here are some pictures of it.

If you look at the dividers, you'll see they all say "Pick Another Checkout Lane Honey."  They are from The Krazy Coupon Lady's website.  I am learning a lot of great things from that site.  You should visit it.

Zippered pocket on front that I can put circulars into.

Pen holders, CD holder (which I will probably never use), and zippered pocket that I use to put the coupons I am using on a particular trip in until I check out.

Table of contents.

Baseball card holders.  Available at WalMart or Target, or, I have also heard some people say they have found them at the dollar store.  My mom got hers at Robert's, and used a half price coupon on them.

One of my dividers.

See how it's nice and padded on the outside, and has a zipper?  Isn't it awsome?

Today's Haul

OK, so today I only had six dollars cash in my pocket, and my goal was to not spend more than that, and I succeeded.  As you can see in my picture, I got quite a lot of product for just $6.00.  I spent $4.00 at WalGreens, and less than $2.00 at WalMart, but my total retail value today was around $56.00.  That is a total savings of 89%!!

One of the best deals I found today was on the Right Guard and Dry Idea deodorants.  They are on sale at WalGreens for buy one get one free, and there is a coupon (that actually expires tomorrow) for buy one get one free that you can use, leaving you with 2 free deodorants, that you just pay the tax for.  I also was able to get 4 full sized toothpastes today at the Orem WalMart for free.  They are on sale for $0.97, and I had a coupon for $1.00 off, so I actually made $0.03!!!

No coupons today

So, if you don't subscribe to the paper, you probably don't know this, but there are no coupons today.  It's a holiday weekend so they don't do them, but there should be some good ones next week.

Have a great holiday tomorrow!!!

Trial sized items

OK, so today I had an epiphany while I was at WalMart. If your coupons for HBA (health and beauty) do not say on them specifically "excludes trial size", or have a specific size written on them, you can use them on travel sized stuff.

Today I was able to get Pert Plus shampoo for completely free!!  The travel sizes cost $0.97 and I had a coupon for $1.00 off, so I was able to get 4 of them for free, as that's how many coupons I had.  I also got some travel sized Sensodyne for free, the same way.

It was quite the epiphany for me, and I'm going to peruse the travel section often now that I know this trick.  I realize that there may only be enough shampoo for 4 washes, but, that means I got 16 washes for free.  :)

Let me know if you find anything else this week in the travel sections.

How to get free dental floss this week

So, I was asked on my previous post how I got the free dental floss, and I had actually been planning on blogging about it, but I hadn't had a chance yet, so, here you go.  :)

There was a smart source coupon insert in the paper a few weeks ago that was all oral care items, that didn't expire until 12/31/11.  This is what some of them looked like.

So, this week at our Orem Target, the Reach dental floss is on sale for $0.89 cents, so I used the save $1.00 on one item coupon, that looks like this:

After grabbing 2 flosses, because that's how many coupons I had, I realized that I also had a few save $2.50 on 2 coupons, that look like this:

I also got a few other items on this trip, and I'm glad I did, because the cashier gave me the overages on the coupons towards the rest of my purchase.  Target's policy is not to do this.  Their policy is to price override the coupons to make them the same price as the item.  So, my coupons were for $1.00 off, and the floss was $0.89 so he should have basically gotten rid of the extra $0.11, but he didn't, he just let it roll over into my whole purchase, which was awesome!  If you go and try this, let me know how it goes.  I realize that not all cashiers are going to do what mine did, so I'd like to hear if yours does.  Either way, the floss is free!!!
