Today's Haul

OK, so today I only had six dollars cash in my pocket, and my goal was to not spend more than that, and I succeeded.  As you can see in my picture, I got quite a lot of product for just $6.00.  I spent $4.00 at WalGreens, and less than $2.00 at WalMart, but my total retail value today was around $56.00.  That is a total savings of 89%!!

One of the best deals I found today was on the Right Guard and Dry Idea deodorants.  They are on sale at WalGreens for buy one get one free, and there is a coupon (that actually expires tomorrow) for buy one get one free that you can use, leaving you with 2 free deodorants, that you just pay the tax for.  I also was able to get 4 full sized toothpastes today at the Orem WalMart for free.  They are on sale for $0.97, and I had a coupon for $1.00 off, so I actually made $0.03!!!

No coupons today

So, if you don't subscribe to the paper, you probably don't know this, but there are no coupons today.  It's a holiday weekend so they don't do them, but there should be some good ones next week.

Have a great holiday tomorrow!!!

Trial sized items

OK, so today I had an epiphany while I was at WalMart. If your coupons for HBA (health and beauty) do not say on them specifically "excludes trial size", or have a specific size written on them, you can use them on travel sized stuff.

Today I was able to get Pert Plus shampoo for completely free!!  The travel sizes cost $0.97 and I had a coupon for $1.00 off, so I was able to get 4 of them for free, as that's how many coupons I had.  I also got some travel sized Sensodyne for free, the same way.

It was quite the epiphany for me, and I'm going to peruse the travel section often now that I know this trick.  I realize that there may only be enough shampoo for 4 washes, but, that means I got 16 washes for free.  :)

Let me know if you find anything else this week in the travel sections.

How to get free dental floss this week

So, I was asked on my previous post how I got the free dental floss, and I had actually been planning on blogging about it, but I hadn't had a chance yet, so, here you go.  :)

There was a smart source coupon insert in the paper a few weeks ago that was all oral care items, that didn't expire until 12/31/11.  This is what some of them looked like.

So, this week at our Orem Target, the Reach dental floss is on sale for $0.89 cents, so I used the save $1.00 on one item coupon, that looks like this:

After grabbing 2 flosses, because that's how many coupons I had, I realized that I also had a few save $2.50 on 2 coupons, that look like this:

I also got a few other items on this trip, and I'm glad I did, because the cashier gave me the overages on the coupons towards the rest of my purchase.  Target's policy is not to do this.  Their policy is to price override the coupons to make them the same price as the item.  So, my coupons were for $1.00 off, and the floss was $0.89 so he should have basically gotten rid of the extra $0.11, but he didn't, he just let it roll over into my whole purchase, which was awesome!  If you go and try this, let me know how it goes.  I realize that not all cashiers are going to do what mine did, so I'd like to hear if yours does.  Either way, the floss is free!!!

free today

I just got a whole bunch of free dental floss at target. it was awesome!

Tornados

OK, so this post is not really about couponing, but it kind of is.

So, as you all know, yesterday some big tornadoes ripped through Oklahoma, and earlier this week there was a large amount of destruction in Joplin.  My sister lives in OK, so I was really worried yesterday about that.  Thankfully, they are all safe, but, whew, it was a scary couple of hours.

My thought today is this, use your stockpile!  If you live near any of these disasters, and you are one of the people who has TONS of things in your stockpile, donate some.  If you have 50 tubes of toothpaste, chances are it's going to take you years to use it all, so donate some.  People have lost their homes and their lives.  If they can have some of the essentials, maybe they won't lose hope.

That is all.

Ridley's Shopping Trip

So, I thought I'd try out Ridley's today at lunch, so I went on a very small shopping trip.  I was able to score the Purex laundry detergent, in a 70 ounce size for $2.50, as they are on sale for $3.50, and I had a $1.00 off coupon from a Smart Source from a couple of weeks ago.  I was also able to score some zone bars for FREE!  You heard me, I said FREE!!!  They are on sale right now for $0.88 each, and I had a $0.55 off coupon, and they double it, so I got 3 Zone bars for just the tax.  :)  It's things like that that keep me doing this.  I also got a few Power Bars for about $0.63 each, as they were on sale for $1.25 each, and I had BOGO coupons.  One thing that I really liked about Ridley's is that they did not have to change the price of the items to to double the coupons.   The cashier said they used to have to do that, but that they changed it recently so they don't have to.  After she scanned all the items, she scanned all the coupons, and it knew to take off extra to double them.  It was awesome!  It made it go so much faster.  The one thing that I didn't like is that most of their items are VERY expensive, and even using a coupon didn't help much.
My total savings with my Ridley's card, and with my coupons.
One of the items I got for cheap today.

Ridley's Deals May 24, 2011

I just read on the Pinching Your Pennies forum the sweet deals for today only at Ridleys.  (And a reminder that they double coupons today, so it's a good day to go.)

So here is a link to the blog post.  I did not write it, I am just sharing the info.

Double Coupon Tuesday

Well everyone,

Today is double coupon Tuesday at our local WalMart's today, and at our Ridley's stores.  I'm going to try to do a small amount of shopping today on my way to or from rehearsal, just to really utilize the double couponing.

I've done one of the double coupon days at WalMart, so I just wanted to share how they do it.  A reminder:  They only double coupons up to $1.00.  So, if your coupon is for $0.75 off, when they "double" it, you will get no more than $1.00 off.  And if your coupon value is $1.00 or more, they will not double it.

They really like it if you can put the coupons on top of the items as you go, as they have to price override the item in order to double your coupon.  What they do is look at the price of the item, then the price of the coupon, then subtract the price of the coupon from the item and then scan the coupon.  It's kind of a long process, so, please be nice to your cashiers.  They are working hard for their money, and for our money saving.  :)

Happy shopping today!!

How is your couponing going???

Hi everyone!

I haven't posted in a couple of days, because I haven't really done any shopping trips this week.  I did find that propel was on sale at Macey's for $2.29 a six pack, and I have some coupons for $1.00 off a six pack, making my total for them $1.29 after the coupon.  I feel like this is a huge stock up price, and, since the coupon expires tomorrow, I'm going to take advantage and get some more tomorrow.

So, how is your coupon shopping going?  Did you find any sweet deals this week that you just can't keep to yourselves?  I think my favorite so far has been the Soleil Razors.  I'm hoping that they will go on sale for even cheaper before the coupons expire, because I wouldn't mind using the rest of the coupons that I have.  I think something like this is a great Christmas present, and it would be great to stock up on and save for the Christmas Season, don't you?

Tell me about your couponing experiences.  Tell me about the great deals your getting.  And tell me, if you, like I, don't know why you didn't start couponing earlier.  I feel like I've wasted SO MUCH MONEY in my life because I didn't start this sooner.

Soleil razors

Ok, so today I'm not going to blog about the money I saved, but I want to blog about one of the items I got for cheap this week.  I was able to get a pack of bic soleil razors for about 1 and a half dollars, and I was kind of concerned, because I had a bad experience with them in the past where I took a hunk out of my ankle.  I've also only used intuition razors for the past 7 years, as i've never cut myself with them ever.  The soleil's were cheap, so I thought I'd give them another chance, and I'm glad I did.  My legs feel soft and very smooth, and I'd recommend them to anyone!

Here is a pic of some of my stockpile.

More sweet deals

So, I went to Rite Aid with my mom this afternoon, and was able to get about $22 worth if merchandise for under $4.  I think that has been my best couponing trip so far.  This is definitely the week for feminine products, if you need them.  Those were a big chunk of my purchase.

Great Deals

Hi everyone!

I tried out double couponing yesterday at our Walmart, and I got some sweet deals.

One thing I want to note is that they do double coupon on Tuesdays in Utah County at Walmart, but they only double up to $1.00.  So, if you have a coupon for $1.00 off, they will not double it, but, if you have a coupon for $0.50 off, they will change it to $1.00.  Also, if your coupon is for $0.75 off, they will only raise it up to $1.00.  So, that said.  Some great deals.

I know we all buy WAY TOO MUCH candy, because those seem to be some of the best coupons, but, let me tell you what I was able to get candy-wise yesterday.  I had $0.30 off Haribo candy, which has an everyday price of $0.97 at our WalMart, so, with the coupon doubling, I got a bag for $0.37.  Also, I had a coupon for $0.50 off Brach's candy, which has an everyday price of $1.27, which I was able to get for $0.27 with the coupon doubling.

I also got some Soleil razors for relatively cheap.  They were on sale last week a lot of places for $3.99 so I got some last week for $0.99 because I had a coupon for $3.00 off.  I came in to some more copies of those this week, so I was able to get some yesterday for $1.27, because they were on sale for $4.27.  A lot of couponing sites tell you to wait until the item is as low as it will go until you stock up, and I totally agree with that, but you need to look at the expiration date on your coupons.  If it is going to expire in the next few weeks, chances are you are not going to be able to use that coupon to the best advantage before it expires, so you sometimes need to do the next best thing.

I also was able to get my husband some deodorant for free!!!  How?  You may ask.  Well, it was speed stick on sale for $0.97, and I had a $0.50 off coupon, so, with the coupon doubling, it works out to be better than free.

Some of you may be curious as to how coupon doubling is different that coupon "stacking."  With a doubled coupon, you only need one copy of the coupon, and the store will do the doubling for you.  Not much effort involved on your part in this one.  Coupon stacking is where you can use more than one coupon on an item.  At this point I only know of 3 stores in Utah County that will let you stack your coupons, Target, Wallgreens, and Rite Aid.  And, you can only stack a manufacturers coupon on top of a store coupon.  And, with Wallgreens, you have to have the same amount of coupons as items.  So, if you want to use a store coupon and a manufacturers coupon on, say, a package of razors, and that is all you want to buy, they will tell you that you can only use one of your coupons, but, to make this work, you can throw in a quarter pack of gum (with no coupon) and it will work.

OK, more tomorrow.  Happy reading!!

The first post

Hi all.  This is my first post on the vlog, and I'm so excited to be doing this.  I will be trying my hand at double coupling today at Walmart.  Wish me luck!  And i'll let you know how it goes.
